Journey as a Therapist
My journey to the mental health field was obscure and winding. Coming from a South Asian immigrant family, mental health was not prioritized and therefore difficult to understand or caringly tended to. As I went through nursing school for my undergraduate degree, I became increasingly exposed to the importance of mental health in my personal life and as a calling in my personal and work life.

During my undergraduate years, I worked as a Youth Outreach Worker in a youth center advocating for the mental health, safety, and social needs of Queer and Trans youth. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Jose State University and worked as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse in inpatient psychiatric hospitals serving patients in crisis for several years before deciding to go back to school.

I earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in 2013 and have since trained in Relational Somatic Healing and Buddhist Psychology. I currently hold a License of Marriage and Family Therapy in California and serve clients throughout the state via telehealth and in-person therapy.

What I Bring as a Therapist

I work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist CA #138950 with years of experience working primarily with adults in community and non-profit settings. I use a gentle, direct approach to increase your self-awareness, connect you with your internal wisdom, and build your sense of agency in life.

I work relationally with my clients, using humor, education, deep compassion, and curiosity to support healing and growth. I practice Buddhism as a spiritual path and bring elements of cultivating compassion and mindfulness to my practice as a therapist.

I provide a deep understanding of social, political, and cultural experiences. I use my personal lived experience, academic knowledge, and clinical experience to provide compassionate, informed care. I offer a focus on early attachment to caregivers, intergenerational trauma, and pushing back on systems of oppression. I bring my personal experience of mind-body-spirit connection to my work.

I am honored to work with you/your loved ones and provide support wherever you find yourself in life. I will be right by your side as a fellow human being. If you are looking to build your toolbox and develop your sense of empowerment to navigate this world, then we can work on that together. We will work together to build a therapeutic relationship. Relationships are where healing can happen. Together, we can carry your traumas, fears, and anxieties in holistic and traditional approaches.
